Bush couldn't send federal troops to get it done faster because he has to first have a request for them otherwise all he can do is sit and let the gov do the work. Which didn't happen. Bush also had the security alert thing up before the hurricane which is a very uncommon thing for Presidents to do. Now I don't remember all that the governer screwed up, but I can assure you it all wasn't Bush's fault. I felt compelled to say something when I read that :|

Cartoons like that just allow people to look from a distance and be cynical with out actually doing anything but spouting their opinion. I dont know if they did infact donate or help or anything, but more often than not, its the people who havent done anything that really talk about it alot. I havent done anything about it besides toot my whistle about it. I wish i wasnt a poor college student so i could help.

I really liked SA's FEMA Citizen's Guide to Hurricane Preparedness.
If you don't want to wade through all of that gibberish, pun intended, then here is their preparation sheet so you can have it ready if a disaster ever comes your way.

I saw that on ebay. It makes me want to laugh but at the same time it seems a bit like mockery. I think it's amazing what's being done though. I live in Sacramento, CA and people form New Orleans are being shipped here! It's amazing how spread out the effort is. At the same time, it's starting to piss off people here. I don't mean to be rude but the other day these people on lightrail were saying that the government is sitting here helping all these hurricane victims but ignoring the poor people at home that need aid. Like, for example, they were saying that there's new housing being built for the Hurricane Victims but no new housing for the people whom are already poor in the city. I just felt like saying: Ok well it makes complete sense why the city isn't building you homes! You're just too damn lazy to get a job and focus! These victims, however, have lost their homes, so it makes sense to take the extra step to give them some homes. Some people can just be so selfish sometimes. Good thing I didn't say that though. I probably would've been shot if I did.
Btw, anyone else think it's pretty arrogant of us to not accept all this foriegn aid that's being offered?

I would assume the ladder of the two.
EDIT: Nothing in this world is free.

They are our allies, we need help, we aren't going to give them money just for some supplies.
